No. Mojo Village is values-based, but not dogmatic. Teens from all backgrounds feel welcomed here.
Most teens come solo. Within a day, most say they feel like they've got new friends they can be themselves around.
That's normal. We don't pressure kids. We create safe opportunities to connect at their own pace.
All activities are facilitated by trained guides with professional equipment and safety protocols.
Yes. All of our staff who will interact with you are background checked. Some of our counselors are trained therapists and others are just adults who love nature and are particularly gifted with teens. We're very mindful of our responsibility to keep kids physically and emotionally safe.
Teens consistently report feeling more confident, connected, and understood. Parents often notice their teen comes home lighter, more open, and more grounded.
Unlikely. While there's no reception at camp, teens say it's refreshing to unplug and discover how much fun and creativity happens without screens.
You'll be sleeping in open bunk buildings called Adirondacks, or in group tents. You have the option to bring a personal tent if you are a very light sleeper or if you snore or have other conditions that may affect other sleepers.
We know what teens love! Here are some foods you can expect to eat.
Breakfast: Waffles, Egg Sandwiches, Breakfast Burritos, French Toast or an Omelet Bar.
Lunch: Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Carne Asada Taco bar, Brisket Sandwiches, Hoagies with sides such as fruit, chips and/or salad.
Dinner: Hawaiian Rice Bowls, Asian Stir-Fry, Korean BBQ, Meat Sauce Spaghetti all served along with tasty sides such as: rolls, salads, fruit, cole slaw and/or baked beans.
If you have dietary restrictions, you'll be prompted to provide this information when you complete the registration form. We will be able to accommodate most common dietary restrictions.
We've made a list with everything you need called the Gear Checklist. If you don't have something on the list, we encourage you to see if you can borrow it from friends or family. You'll need everything on the list so be sure you have it all!
If you need to take medication, you'll be responsible to administer it yourself during the camp. If this doesn't work for some reason, let us know and we'll try to find a solution. When you register, you'll be prompted to let us know about any medication issues so we know how to support you! We will have appropriate camp medical officers on site.
There are port-a-potties around camp and you'll have access to warm, private showers. It's nothing fancy, but it's much better than pooping in the woods.
We've timed our camp to hopefully miss both the cold and the mosquito seasons. July and August in the high Uintas are pretty moderate, with the high around 70 degrees and the low around 35. You should follow the Gear Checklist when you pack and be prepared with layers so you can warm up, cool down, and be ready in case we get some afternoon rain storms.
Oh yeah! We'd love that.
You're invited to register if you're between the ages of fourteen and eighteen by the dates of the camp. Or, if you're nineteen when camp begins but you just graduated from high school, you can attend, too. But if you're thirteen or younger during the dates of the camp, we encourage you to get excited about next year!
